Saxton Live Melbourne 2024 Recap

Emma Carson
25 Jul 2024

Last Thursday, we hosted our Melbourne showcase, Saxton Live, at The Commons QV, for an incredible evening. We were privileged to hear from four inspiring, tear-jerking, and empowering speakers: Chyloe Kurdas, Dr Michelle Dickinson, Hugo Toovey, and David Knoff. Their impactful storytelling captivated the audience, and we were thrilled to present this event to our wonderful clients.

Thank you to all who attended and to our fabulous speakers for making Saxton Live a success. We look forward to continuing to inspire and empower through our future events. We look forward to hosting our next one very soon

Below, we have compiled more information about what each speaker discussed and some great photos by Roy Chow.

David Knoff - Antarctic Expedition Leader, Author, and Leadership Expert. David unpacked the complexities of leading an Antarctic expedition during the pandemic, highlighting the resilience, courage, and strength required to navigate challenging circumstances. His insights into remote leadership, hostile environment diplomacy, and overcoming adversity left a lasting impression.

Dr Michelle Dickinson - Nanotechnologist and Materials Engineer. Michelle explored the transformative potential of AI and technology. She reassured us that, rather than replacing jobs, AI can elevate them if we learn to harness its capabilities effectively. Her decades of experience in cutting-edge technologies and solutions for medical and tech applications added depth to the discussion. She also encouraged our audience to be more curious in life, pushing them to be more open-minded and confident to say, “I don’t know, let’s find out…” Most importantly, she taught us how to use our microwaves properly.

Hugo Toovey - Army Major, Founder of 25 STAY ALIVE, Two-time Cancer Survivor, and Mental Health Advocate. Hugo’s emotional journey of surviving cancer twice deeply moved us. He shared how he built resilience and maintained positivity, highlighting the critical need for mental health support during life’s big challenges. His powerful keynote fostered awareness and advocacy for mental health, resonating strongly with everyone present.

Chyloe Kurdas - Leader in Inclusion, Belonging, High Performance, and Transformative Change. Chyloe shared invaluable leadership qualities and tips learned from her significant contributions to the AFLW, Australian women’s golf, and inclusive sporting communities. She emphasised leading authentically, fostering inclusion, and finding what drives us to show up daily. Her open and honest discussion about staying true to one’s values to support others was truly inspiring.

Thank you to all who attended and our fabulous speakers for making Saxton Live a success. We look forward to continuing to inspire and empower through our future Saxton Live events.
