Claire
Turnbull

Wellbeing expert, entrepreneur and author

Profile

Claire Turnbull is a dynamic and passionate advocate for holistic well-being, blending science-backed expertise with real-life relatability.

With over 18 years of experience, she has dedicated her career to helping people lead healthier, more fulfilling lives in a fast-paced world where stress and overwhelm have become the norm.

A UK native, Claire comes from a family deeply rooted in healthcare—her father a doctor, her mother a nurse, and her brother a pharmacist and anaesthetist. This foundation sparked her lifelong interest in well-being, leading her to qualify as a Dietitian and Fitness Instructor in the UK before making New Zealand her home in 2003. Her early work with Diabetes New Zealand set the stage for her mission: making it easier for people to build sustainable, healthy habits that enhance both physical and mental well-being.

As a registered nutritionist with a BSc (Hons) in Dietetics, Claire has continuously expanded her expertise, incorporating positive psychology, neuroscience, and behaviour change into her approach. She is the founder of two successful businesses—findWellness and Mission Nutrition—each dedicated to equipping individuals and organisations with the tools to improve health, performance, and quality of life.

A trusted voice in New Zealand’s media landscape, Claire has been the go-to nutritionist for Healthy Food Guide since 2006, regularly appearing on TVNZ Breakfast, Fair Go, and Newstalk ZB. She is also a best-selling author, with Lose Weight for Life and Feel Good for Life published by Penguin Random House, alongside her own self-published range of well-being planners. Her third book is set to launch in June 2023.

Claire’s impact extends beyond nutrition. She has worked with high-performance athletes, including New Zealand Rugby teams, and has been a long-time advocate for causes such as Bowel Cancer NZ, The Child Cancer Foundation, and Project Employ. Her lived experience with depression, postnatal anxiety, and a brain injury sustained in 2020 gives her a deep, authentic understanding of resilience, recovery, and mental well-being. As a dyslexic thinker and a mother navigating the journey of supporting a neurodiverse child, she appreciates that well-being is not a one-size-fits-all concept.

Claire’s work is built on a belief that small, realistic changes can create a lasting impact, empowering individuals and workplaces to thrive. Her ability to combine science with storytelling makes her an inspiring force for change.
