David Mann AM FAICD - best known as 'Mann About Town' - plays the part of roving reporter for 3AW 693 and Magic 1278. David also runs his own marketing and public relations company Mann Promotions Pty Ltd, consulting to numerous operations and not-for-profit organisations around Australia.

Current Work

David is Chair of the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Council, Entertainment Assist, Victorian Police Blue Ribbon Day Community Council, and the Mount Macedon Memorial Cross Reserve Committee of Management. He's also a member of the Thoroughbred Club of Australia, the 41 Club, a Community Patron of Neighbourhood Watch Victoria, Patron Life Education Victoria, and an Ambassador for Phoenix Australia, Marsh Foundation, Victoria's Small Business Festival, Australia Day Committee Victoria. He is a member of the board of Connected Communities Melbourne, Caroline Chisholm Education Foundation, The Production Company and Chisholm Institute.

His past appointments include: Chair of the Ministerial Crime Prevention Council, Chair of the Royal District Nursing Service, Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Previous Experience

3AW 693: David Mann commenced his working career as an office boy in 1973, before being promoted to panel operator and given a cadetship in journalism, quickly moving onto an on air role as radio personality for a period of 20 years. For four decades now, David has held various roles within the company, including Production Manager, Creative Director, and Promotions and Marketing Manager where he held the reins for 23 years.

Awards: Affectionately known as 'the civilian with a trifecta of experience' in emergency services circles for his roles with the Victoria Police Force, Metropolitan Fire Brigade and Ambulance Victoria - where he has worked in an operational capacity for more than 30 years - David was subsequently awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) 'for service to the community through a range of police, nursing, heritage and emergency services organisations'. In 2018 David was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM), “for significant service to the community of Victoria, particularly through emergency services, entertainment, education, heritage and charitable organisations”.

Chair of the Order: In March 2007, David was appointed to the Committee of the Order of Australia Association (Victoria Branch) and in November 2011 became Chair of the Order of Australia Association (Victoria branch).

Speaker: In addition to his many roles, David hosts numerous corporate, education and community events and presents his message as corporate motivator with his presentation 'Personalities, Places, Performers', encouraging people to be “street wise and street smart”.
