Deborah Clay is a trusted leader in Australian media who is known for her ability to synthesise research and share tools that unlock inspiring communicators, original thinkers, and dynamic managers.
A commentator on Channel 7’s Sunrise, Deborah is an energetic keynote Speaker who blends extensive leadership experience driving innovation and a passion for storytelling, with her approach supported by university studies in journalism and business.
Deborah has worked extensively as an Emcee on successful live events, including large-scale business conferences and summits, gala dinners and charity events. Her objective is to uplift and engage the targeted audience.

Australians have been listening to Deborah on the radio for more than 15 years as she helped shape the national conversation through broadcasts that reached millions. As National News Director, ARN, she leveraged her expertise in innovation and led the pivot to on-demand news for radio stations nationally and digital entertainment platform iHeartRadio. She also worked as Sydney News Director- SCA. Deborah conceptualised and judged the Brian White Scholarship for next-generation journalists, was a mentor for the Women in Media program and trained hundreds of journalists in presentation skills.
She works with global leaders to be the disruption and facilitates the popular “Transform” course which gives participants practical strategies to present with confidence. As well as her work for Sunrise, she is also a commentator on ABC TV’s Weekend Breakfast and a host on ABC Radio.
Deborah is passionate about social causes including homelessness, and gender equality, and values the role of the arts in Australian society. A graduate of AICD, she serves on charity boards as a Non-Executive Director and Chair and supports National Centre for Childhood Grief as their Ambassador.
She received the Brian White Award which recognises sustained excellence in Journalism and B and T’s Women in Media Award for Journalism.
