Doug’s commercial career has spanned more than 20 years and has included numerous senior sales and marketing and general management roles with Readymix and Formica. He was Chief Executive of Smorgon ARC and also established a large business service centre which included the Procurement, Information Technology and Financial Transaction Processing functions for the Smorgon Group. Doug’s 21 year military career, which included being wounded in action while on active service in South Vietnam, culminated in his appointment as the Commanding Officer of the School of Military Engineering in 1984. Prior to that, he serves as an instructor at the US Army Engineer School.
Doug has a first class honours civil engineering degree, studied marketing at IMD Lausanne, Switzerland, and was awarded an Order of Australia in 1984. Industries he is conversant with are the building and construction, building materials and all associated industries such as facade, kitchen and shopfitting and understands the responsibilities of all roles within.
