On September 22 1995, Major Glenn Todhunter found himself trapped in the wreckage of his aircraft after it had crashed heavily from 200ft during a training flight.
After several days of intensive care on life support, his journey back to health required amputation of both his legs below the knee and two months in hospital. What followed over the next eight years is a landmark journey rebuilding his life learning to walk, drive and fly again.
Today Glenn has flown both rotary and fixed wing aircraft for the Australian Army. After having been told he would never fly again in the Army with a disability, using determination and tenacity he succeeded in becoming the first and only amputee aviator in the history of the Australian Defence Force.
Glenn speaks about the human side of his journey, and touches on managing fear, the realm of human achievement and living a life you love. He has recently featured on the ABC's Australian Story, and was selected as one of four finalists for the 2006 Queenslander of the Year. Glenn's powerful presentation style will inspire many audiences, and his lessons learnt are ones you won't want to miss!

Glenn Todhunter was by far one of the best motivational and inspirational speakers we have had in our town. Glen's "down to earth" attitude and openness to questions from the kids is what made him stand out from the rest. Glenn was open to "last minute" changes and just went with the flow. There was no strict guidelines and he was not "high maintenance" like some speakers.
Glenn's presentation was engaging and has inspired many people to re-evaluate their current performance and attitudes with the result of improving motivation, self belief and drive. Glenn successfully incorporated our days theme of 'Professionalism combating Complacency' providing the audience with a lesson through his story and subsequent strive to return to flying and give back to the community. All of the FAASC staff enjoyed the opportunity to meet such a professional and inspiring person.
The delegates were all delighted with Glenn's talk. Please pass on our thanks to Glenn for his time and effort.
Glenn was incredibly easy to work with, and was more than happy to accommodate any of our requests. His talk was inspirational and interesting, his willingness to spend time with the audience was refreshing and his ability to connect was a pleasure to see. Glenn is clearly an intelligent and passionate advocate and someone who loves mixing it with his audience - it was great to see someone willing to converse with the listeners rather than speaking at them. I'd recommend Glenn wholeheartedly to any others.
