Profile

Lisa Annese is the CEO of Chief Executive Women, striving to create an Australia, where women in all their diversity can achieve their potential and where gender inequality is a thing of the past.

Prior to this role, Lisa was CEO of the Diversity Council Australia and a leading voice on diversity and inclusion in the public arena. Under her leadership, DCA delivered innovative resources to support Australian businesses in fostering a more diverse and inclusive workforce.

Lisa is a non-executive director of Amnesty International Australia and Women for Election, Australia. She sits on the NSW Women’s Advisory Council and served on both the Attorney General’s Respect at Work Council and the Fair Work Commission’s Respect at Work, Working Group. In 2018, Lisa was named one of the AFR’s 100 Women of Influence and she is also a member of Chief Executive Women.

Lisa has presented widely at both national and international for a, including at the United Nations Commission for the Status of Women in New York, for UNESCO in Baku and other UN forums in India and Qatar as well as international academic conferences in the United States and Europe.

She has advocated for policy action in areas including women’s safety and economic empowerment, universal paid parental leave and affordable childcare, intersectionality, racial equity and justice and was a key voice in both the Marriage Equality conversation and in opposing regressive laws for LBGTQ people and people with disabilities.

Earlier in her career, Lisa developed the first-ever census of Australian Women in Leadership, the first-ever Business Achievement Awards, the creation of the Employer of Choice for Women citation and the development and implementation of the policy framework for the EOWA Act 1999 with Australian businesses. For her contribution, she was awarded a Medal for Significant Contribution to the Australian Public Service.
