Matthew Evans, aka the Gourmet Farmer, is a chef by trade and Tasmanian smallholder by choice. He is the co-owner with his partner Sadie Chrestman of Fat Pig Farm, a 70 acre mixed holding that grows food for their on-farm restaurant in the picturesque Huon Valley.
Current Work
Matthew has been a food writer for nearly three decades, as well as a television presenter for the last ten years. He's fronted six series of Gourmet Farmer on SBS TV, along with documentaries What's the Catch and For the Love of Meat.
A strong advocate for knowing and trusting what you eat, he's written for magazines, newspapers and guide books and is the author of a dozen books on food, including The Real Food Companion and the soon to be released The Commons (due out in November 2019) as well as two memoirs.
