Simon
Goodwin

AFL Premiership Coach

Profile

Simon Goodwin had one of the most successful starts to an AFL career in history, becoming a dual Premiership Player in his first two seasons.

A durable player, Goodwin played 14 seasons in the Adelaide Crows midfield for a career spanning 275 games.

With five All-Australians, three Club Best and Fairest Awards and Captain of the Crows for three seasons, Goodwin cemented his name as one of the legends of the Adelaide Crows Football Club.

After his retirement in 2010, Goodwin was appointed Assistant Coach of Essendon, moving up to Senior Assistant Coach in 2014.

Ahead of the 2015 season, Goodwin joined the Melbourne Football Club where he spent two years working under Paul Roos.

He became the Senior Coach in 2017 and led the side to finals in 2018. Missing finals the next two years, the Dees were Minor Premiers in 2021.

After dominant performances in the finals series, Goodwin led Melbourne to their first Premiership in 57 years in the 2021 Grand Final.
