Dr Adir Shiffman is an Australian serial technology startup founder, investor, and Executive Chairman of global athlete analytics leader Catapult Sports (ASX: CAT). He has been rated the World's 10th Most Innovative Person in Sports Business.
After qualifying in medicine and practising as an MD, Adir transitioned to startup founder and, over the last two decades, launched, built and sold several high-growth technology companies.
When Adir first invested in Catapult and joined the two founders as Executive Chairman, it reported annual revenue of just $2m. Today, it has an ASX valuation of over $500 million and revenue of around $150 million, with 98% of sales generated overseas. 4,000 of the world's best sports teams use Catapult's proprietary technology to reduce injury risk, improve performance, and win more championships. These include American teams in the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB, English Premier League soccer teams, much of Formula 1, and every team in the AFL.
Through his work with Catapult and investments in other startups including a medical technology platform, Adir has developed a strong understanding of a variety of artificial intelligence technologies including large language models (generative AI) and computer vision.
Adir has also worked as a significant investor and mentor in a range of other businesses, particularly in the online retail space. These include custom suit business Institchu, Australia's leading online florist Daily Blooms, and as the only outside investor in mattress-in-a-box seller Sleeping Duck, helping the company grow from $2m in revenue to around $80m in only three years. He is also a Director of ASX-listed home improvement marketplace Hipages.
Now one of the foremost technology experts in Australia, Dr. Shiffman is a regular speaker worldwide and has been featured in Fortune, Forbes, This Week in Startups, Sports Illustrated, The Australian, The Wall Street Journal, and ESPN.
In addition, he writes a regular column in the Australian Financial Review, and co-hosts the popular "The Contrarians with Adam and Adir" podcast with Luxury Escapes founder Adam Schwab.
